About Gravity APBTs

The Name

Our Kennel name comes from Loki's registered name, Matrix's I Defy Gravity. We are not affiliated with any other Gravity kennels that may exist, and we have been using the name since 2004. The only other kennel we are associated with is Matrix Kennels in west Texas.

The Human

My name is Lindsay Dugan (at one time Lindsay Biddle). I got introduced to my first pit "type" at 8 years of age, and my interest in the breed grew from there. I read all the books I could grab, and with the advent of the internet, my learning accelerated. I've had a handful of backyard-bred dogs, and got my first well-bred APBT in 2004. I've also had some experience with other big dogs like Dogos and Akitas.

Outside of dogs, I am a terribly boring person. I love music, old-school video games, photography, good booze and good food (as my waistline will attest). I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, and have lived in Oklahoma and Texas as well. I have worked a variety of jobs from dog bather to retail manager, and currently work as a personal assistant and kennel hand in the Lubbock, TX area. My future plans include a move back to the midwest.

The Philosophy

I am into these dogs for me. They are family, and if that brands me a furmom, so be it. I love being around them, working with them, and spending time with them. I like winning as much as anybody, but that's not my prime directive. I train and trial for my enjoyment and my dogs' enrichment. When it becomes not-fun, I take a break. Yes, I collect titles. They are evidence of dedication, quality, and time well-spent with my pups.

When it comes to APBTs, I believe in the breed as a versatile athlete and companion. My dogs live in my home with me, and this keeps my numbers down. Someday I may have the right setup for more dogs, but I prefer to be able to spend quality time with everybody, so we'll never be a large kennel.

I support and encourage rescue, but I do not believe it to be a prerequisite for good ownership. I respect the history of the APBT, and dog aggression is a very real thing here. (We crate and rotate.) I utilize health-testing on all of my dogs and disclose my results. I am opposed to breeding human-aggressive APBTs and believe in responsible culling. Keep only the best, represent yourself and the breed with RESPECT, and never miss a chance to give sound advice to newbies.

The Beliefs

Section added 1/9/2021. This is something that matters to a lot of people now, and I'm here for it. Some people are looking for breeders that do not work against their own beliefs. So here's a brief rundown of where I stand:

* Black Lives Matter

* LGBT rights are human rights

* Reform the police

* Change the system

We are located in the Lubbock, TX area, but won't be staying here permanently.  If you don't see a breeding/puppies page, I don't have any puppies at this time. As of 5/2021, I don't have any breeding-age females, but I'm working on it.
